One of my favorite things about fall is the mixture of fashion options you can find around the streets. They may be effortless, but they’re good, nonetheless.
Unconsciously, people wear the new trends as if it were the most common things. The mixture of patterns, fabrics and materials is present in silk summery dresses used to the max combined with chunky sweaters, flannel shirts or cotton cardigans. Lately, you’re able to see combinations of denim shorts, bare legs and biker boots, for example, and, surprisingly, they’re not only worn by those celebrities who walk aimlessly around L.A! No, go to the center of your city and you will find common people wearing them (mostly university students, young people).
In fact, this made me think about people and the way the follow trends unawarely. Shops are always filled with last season’s most wanted; even if they come a little late, they are still successful. Look at satchels, for example: they were a big thing last year but not many people were aware of that. Now, almost everyone and their grandmas have one, maybe in a neon shade, as the trend was. Yes, it may be a bit old-fashioned, for those who know these kind of stuff, but I say, why not?! ‘common’ people like us also deserve having a little taste of fashion, don’t we?
So next time you see a girl wearing a neon pink satchel or a flannel shirt on top of a mini skirt, don’t cringe or think “well, that’s so last season”. Just think about the way fashion has to reach everybody sooner or later.
And think about me, who will be watching and thinking and telling you all about it.
